emPower magazine Presents:

A Discussion on the Wealth Gap

Saturday, February 25, 2012

11:30-2:00 pm

We've all heard the staggering wealth gap statistics:

  • The median wealth of white households is 20 times that of black households.
  • Between 2005 and 2009, black households suffered a 53% drop in net worth.
  • In 2009, the typical black household had just $5,677 while the average white household had a net worth of $113,149.

Now, let's do something about it! Join emPower magazine for our 2012 inaugural panel discussion on how the black community can combat the wealth gap in America. Our distinguished panelists include:

  • Menna Demessie, Ph.D., Senior Research Analyst for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation
  • Chanelle Hardy, Executive Director of the National Urban League Policy Institute
  • William Patterson, author of the Baron Series, wealth coach and XM radio host
  • Tisa Silver, financial professor, author, and founder of The Good Works Coalition

During the event, panelists will craft a 5-point action plan that attendees can use to help reverse the wealth gap. The discussion will be moderated by Alanna Brown, financial services expert and blogger.

Your ticket price includes a panel discussion, door prizes and a networking event with light brunch and unlimited mimosas.
